Jeff McGeorge
Interview date 25th March, 2006 “HI
EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO ON THE SIDELINES WITH LEACHY” Jeff has been with
GDFRA since 1988 and has been the President since the
start of last year. I interviewed Jeff after the recent Compulsory
Seminar. 1. What is your reason for refereeing?
I had been
a player and a coach and coached my sons team and when he was chosen to
go into 1st division team I didn’t want to continue coaching and having
watched the referees I thought I would like to try it.
Having
an almost
all in brawl in Y/L due to my inexperience and not cracking down early
enough. Doing the Women’s 1st div State League Grand Final At Marconi Stadium just prior to Simon Micelef doing the men’s with a crowd of around 7,000 Other than that just finishing a game and knowing I did a good job. 4. What would be the best advice you could pass on to another referee? Look confident, be confident and concentrate on the game and apply your personality. 5. On a long plane trip who would you most like to sit next to and why?
The
Pilot. I always wanted to learn to fly an aircraft. Playing Golf and watching my grandsons growing up. 7. If there was one thing you could change in regards to refereeing/laws what would it be?
Have a sin
bin to cool players off.
I would love to go through Africa and see the
tribes and natural wild life.
A winning
Lottery Ticket. Smoking. 11. What is your pet hate in reference to refereeing?
Seeing a sloppily dressed
referee.
A
Cheetah, I used
to love sprinting. To do all I can to assist referees to reach there full potential and get one or more to a FIFA badge.
