Nicholas Backo
Interview date 27th March, 2006 This week’s other interview involves one of GDFRA’s most promising and dedicated juniors, Nicholas Backo.
Nicolas has been a GDFRA Member since 2003 and was the 2005 recipient of
the Berle, Mair &Newhouse Trophy. Learning, listening and gaining
experience has been the basis to Nic’s success, thus being rewarded with
an opportunity to represent the Association at last years NSW State
Titles and being a member of the winning “Umbro Trophy” Youth League
Panel. 1. What is your reason for refereeing? Love of the game, enjoyment and money. 2. Worst moment in reference to refereeing?
Pulling out
the red card instead of yellow in an U13's Youth League game, or getting
injured at NSW State Titles last year.
Making NSW State
Titles last year. Use the referee's around you, especially the senior one's. 5. On a long plane trip who would you most like to sit next to and why? One of my best friends. 6. What other hobbies/interests do you have apart from refereeing? Mainly just music and most other sports. 7. If there was one thing you could change in regards to refereeing/laws what would it be?
Simplify
the offside law.
Europe I guess, would be
nice to do a big tour.
A lottery ticket and hope
for the best. I leave my clothes inside out and put them in the laundry basket, my Mum hates that. 11. What is your pet hate in reference to refereeing? Dissent. 12. If you compared yourself to an animal what would it be and why? Anything that can fly. 13. What are your refereeing/management aspirations? Stay injury free and hopefully make NSW State Titles again and do my association proud.
